Post-natal Exercise Classes

Following childbirth the body needs time to recover following the physiological changes of pregnancy and giving birth.

Ligaments are still influenced by the pregnancy hormones for about 4-6 months and the abdominal muscles which have stretched to accommodate the growing baby need toning to regain their former strength.

Immersion in water is protective for the joints, and supervised exercise focussing on those muscles most affected by pregnancy helps regain pre-pregnancy fitness.

It is important to return to exercise only after the postnatal examination by your General Practitioner has been carried out, this is usually 6 weeks after baby’s birth. Following a Caesarean Section it is preferable to wait a further 2-4 weeks

There is a crèche available, which must be booked in advance.
